Birth Announcement: May 4th, 2012, 175 pages, weight 6 oz ( we’ve been waiting a long time.) It’s a powerful thing to give birth to a book. I’m exhausted. To have put myself between two covers and then have my insides visible on the pages between, still takes my breath away. Its one thing to lay out my body and take a good hard look. But to have a readership look without me, to traverse my body parts and make their own comments, is outright terrifying. But I know that claiming our voices and telling the stories that must be told (less and act of will and more an act of surrender) moves us closer to each other and the world. I am placing a bet on intimacy. I am placing a bet that we want to ‘know’ another’s experience, not as a kind of voyeurism but as a way to lose our own self-consciousness. I am placing a bet that we want to find that larger, mysterious place that lives beyond the personal. Let me know, really know, what’s true for you. And if you read my book, Clear Cut what arises for you.
